Places to visit in Puttaparthi

Puttaparthi is a city in Andhra Pradesh. The city is known for its Satyabhama temple, the only temple dedicated to the lover of Krishna. It is surrounded by rocky hills along the border of Karnataka. Here are the places to visit in Puttaparthi.

Sai Kulwant Hall

The Sai Kulwant hall is a two-storeyed sanctum known for its religious tolerance. The balcony  door  displays symbol of various faith and religion. The ground floor also has a prayer hall.

Chaitanya Jyoti Museum

Chaitanya Jyoti Museum was constructed in the year 2000. The museum displays the life and mission of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. However, the museum was designed by a NASA scientist, Art-ong Jum Sai. The structure is a exotic amalgamation of  Chinese roofs, Moorish Spires, Gothic arches and Japanese and Thai architecture.  The chinese roof in the museum is the biggest chinese roof in India. The distinctive feature of the museum is afeast to the eyes of the visitors.

Sri Sathya Sai Space Theatre

Sri Sathya Sai Space theatre is situated in Sathya Sai Ashram in Puttaparthi. The planetorium is constructed in 1985 that offers information on Astronomy, Mathematics and Physics. The theatre has updated instruments that offers an amazing view of the night sky. The main motto of the planitorium is to create awareness among the masses.

Sri Sathya Sai Hill View Stadium

The cricket stadium is situated opposite to the hill and celebrates various sports and cultural events are conducted in the stadium during the birthday celebration of Sri Sathya Sai.

Gopuram Gateway

The Gopuram gateway is dedicated to Lord ganesha. The massive gate is designed with south indian architecture was constructed in 1975.The gateway was used by Sai baba during his visit to the ashram and  is open for devotees now. The gate is embellished with multi color idols and is the main entrance of the famous ashram

Anjaneya Hanuman Swamy Temple

Anjaneya Hanuman Swamy Temple is situated on the Gopuram road. A magnificent Shiva Lingam is situated on the entrance of the temple. It is believed that Lord Shiva was bought by Sai Baba from kashi. Lord Hanuman who is believed to be the incarnation of Lord Shiva is presided on the inner sanctum. The idol has pool of water near the feet  that is considered to be the tear of Lord hanuman showing his longing for Lord Rama. The temple is hugely crowded by devotees all over the year.

Village Mosque

The construction of the village Mosque is a wonder and a blessing of Sai baba. It is believed that a lot of accident happened in that area and people asked for help from Sai baba. Sai Baba asked them to dig a specific spot from where they found a Islamic inscription and thus the Village Mosque was created in that area. The Islamic inscription is still engraved on a plate in the mosque.

Chitravathi River

Chitravathi river is considered to be the “ganges” by devotees of Sai baba. Sai baba used to take bath in this river. Sai baba played many miracles on the bank of the river.
